City Council Members

Mary Schamehorn, Mayor

A native of Bandon, who retired from the Western World newspaper in 2004. She is now a member of the Southern Coos Health District Board of Directors where she serves as secretary. She served on the City Council for nine years in the late '70s and early '80s.

Joshua Adamson, Council President 

Moved to Bandon in 2015.  Works for the Port of Bandon since 2018. Currently serves on the Greater Bandon Association Board, GBA Promotions Committee, Bandon School District Budget Committee, Bandon Community Youth Center Board and is a Mason at Bandon Lodge #130

Archie Garrett, Councilor

Is a Bandon High School graduate, is the owner and operator of Wilson’s Market and Bandon Sushi. He serves on the Chamber Board of Directors, is a member of the Bandon Lions Club and Bandon Dunes Golf Club, and is the Vice President of Bandon Youth Baseball. In addition, he coaches various youth sports.

Chris Powell, Councilor

Has lived in Bandon for the past 23 years and has been on the City Council twice, in 2004-2008 and then from 2010 to present. He owns and operates the Bandon Baking Company with his wife Kim.

Geri Procetto, Councilor

Geri is native New Yorker who spent 40 years in California, first in Los Angeles and then in Central Valley town of Merced.  It was in this small farming community that Geri first began her work in community service, as a leader in her children's local 4-H Club and later as an elected member of the Weaver School Board.  She and her late husband, John, moved to Bandon in 1995.  Geri continued her community involvement here as a member of the Welcome Club, Red Hat Society, Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Toastmaster’s International.  Serving as councilor since 1996.

Madeline Seymour, Councilor 

She retired from the construction accounting field in 2011 and moved to Bandon from Southern California.  She continues her lifelong commitment to volunteerism with the VFW Auxiliary, Holiday Meals, Bandon Welcome Club and wherever the need arises.

Gerald "Bear" Slothower, Councilor

Bear is a retired geologist who moved here is 2012 from Copperton, Utah.  He fell in love with Bandon while traveling to visit his son at U of O in Eugene.  He joined the Bandon Planning Commission in 2017 and later became the chair. He worked for the city for several years in weed control in the push to control gorse. Bear is also an active part in Circles in the Sand.
