Welcome to the Office of the City Recorder
The City Recorder plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of city governance. Serving as a key link between the City Council, city staff, and the community, the City Recorder provides essential administrative and technical support. This includes preparing and distributing City Council meeting agendas and materials, maintaining accurate records of proceedings, and ensuring timely public notifications.
Working closely with the City Manager and various department heads, the City Recorder assists with project research, records management, and the development of ordinances, resolutions, and city policies. As the official custodian of city records, the Recorder manages the preservation of historical documents, ordinances, contracts, and ensures compliance with the Oregon Public Records Law.
Beyond record-keeping, the City Recorder oversees elections, coordinating with the county to manage local elections and ballot measures. Additionally, the office handles applications for boards, commissions, and committees, and issues permits and licenses for various city operations.
Whether it's managing council services, facilitating public engagement, or preserving the city's legacy, the City Recorder’s office is dedicated to upholding transparency and fostering effective governance.
